Suspension + PS Plus?

I got baned for a week, for cursing on messenger 2-3 months ago. I recieved a warning for that in August. Whats weird is, that the ban started right after my ps+ ran out few days ago and I didn't renew it automatically

Does this happen a lot ? I mean a warning was enough.. Did my ps+ subscription have anything to do with this?
