Okay first of all, I'm just a 23 year old girl who doesn't know a ton about the PS4. I haven't owned a PlayStation in like 10 years. It was my understanding though, that if it's in rest mode then it's chill indefinitely. Is that not true? Is it bad for the system? I got a refurbished one from Best Buy and you bet your ass I got the warranty (brother works at Best Buy too and got me it on the cheap). I've had it for almost two months and I've had the same problem twice already. Here's what happens:
I put it in rest mode for several days (maybe like 5?) because I've been busy with work and haven't played. When I go back to play it, I notice it's not in rest mode anymore, but actually powered off. I try to restart it and the blue light comes up and you can hear the machine trying to restart, but then it fails and goes dead. I will try restarting several times and the same thing. After unplugging it, restarting it, repeat several times, it'll eventually start back up again. What's the deal? Is there something wrong with it and I should use the warranty or should I just not be leaving it in rest mode for so long? Usually I leave it in rest mode for no more than 24 hours and everything's fine, but it seems like when it's been for numerous days things start to go haywire. Should I just make sure to not leave it in rest mode for too long or is this a larger underlining problem I should address now rather than later?
Thank you for any help you can give! :)
