Dualshock repair

After dropping my controller against a hard floor, my left joystick doesn't recognise certain inputs anymore. I'll push the joystick forward and nothing will happen in-game. All other directions work fine, but when I want to run forward on, say, an FPS, I'll have to keep pushing the joystick up (usually around four times) until it recognises my command.

I was going to just buy a new controller, but I've looked at part replacement and that seems the much better option. Most parts are around £3 on Ebay. That said, I have no idea which part I need to replace.

Anyone got any ideas?
