I wanna know if this works

So i borrowed a copy of persona 4 from a friend and ended up loving the game to bits, what I wanna know is if i buy a new copy of persona and still use my ps4 that i played the friends copy on will all my data be on the new copy or will i have to do something with the friend's copy?
