Is there a way to add sidetone/mic monitoring to headset?

I'm new to using a headset while playing. I finally have a couple of friends to play BF1 with so I bought the hyperx cloud stingers to be able to chat with them. Immediately I realized how much I didn't like not being able to hear myself and was bummed to find out only certain headsets (usually more expensive ones) offer sidetone/mic monitoring. I also discovered that these are far from being comfortable yet it seems like most people agree that these are the most comfort you can buy for that price.

I actually already have a pair of Bose noise canceling headphones (mic doesn't work on the ps4 for some reason) and would love to use these to game since they sound good and are super comfortable. Is it possible to add a mic that can give me sidetone?

Or if that's not possible, if there's a way to add sidetone to the hyperx cloud stingers?

And a finally question for the hell of it, why is sidetone only available on some headsets? I assumed it was the console doing the work to produce the effect and not the headset itself.
