Question about trophies and the percentage next to them

Ok, so I play Destiny a lot. Well, used to. Waiting on the next release.

anyways, this goes for any game really but that one is the one i really pay attention to.

I am looking through the trophies i have from the game and i see a % off to the side.

Like, one trophy will have a 68%. Another will have a 20%.

does that mean anything? I assumed that it meant that of the people who have played the game, only 60% or whatever the % is have been rewarded that trophy.

is this correct?
