Do Generation 2 DS4s support 3rd party headsets/earbuds? (Read Desc.)

I used to own a generation 1 controller and my beats worked as a mic, I was able to speak to other people. But now I have a generation 2 controller, and my beats dont work as a mic. I can't speak to others. What's the problem? I don't know what to do.
