Can I use two headphones, one for audio and one for microphone?

My hyperx mic has died and I'm waiting for the replacement. have a pair or cheap earphones, audio sucks but the mic quality is well above average for their price.

Am I able to connect my hyperx to the ps4 via usb and then the earphones to the jack on the controller?

I did try searching for an answer but I don't think my search term was accurate enough.
