Ps gold headset won't connect to the PS4 at all.

Hi everyone, hopefully someone has had a similar problem and has found a fix. I was using the gold PS headset and when I chose a custom sound from the PS4 app (I chose deep bass for music) the headset just completely stopped working. I've tried resetting it through the app but the headset will not sync to the USB dongle. Even when I connect the headset to the PlayStation via cable nothing shows up, it's as if it was never connected in the first place. The only thing I have not tried is resetting the dongle itself via the reset button. Is there anything else I can try?
